Metal Name Plate


Introduction:

Name plates are great not only for placing names on them, but as tags for various graphic design projects as well. In this tutorial, we are going to go through the easy step by step process for creating a metal name plate for adding engraved text inside of it.





Step-By-Step:

1. Open a new document in Photoshop. Choose a size that will fit the size of the name plate that you will be making.
2. Create a new layer and call it "Plate".
3. Select the Rectangle Tool and draw a rectangle shape for your plate.



4. Open the Layer Styles for the "Plate" layer.
5. Change the "Inner Shadow" properties to the following:



6. Change the "Bevel and Emboss" properties to the following:



7. Change the "Gradient Overlay" properties to the following:



8. You should now have something similar to the image below:



9. Create a new layer and call it "Rivet".
10. Select the Circle Tool and create a small circle shape for the corner rivet.



10. Open the Layer Styles for the "Rivet" layer.
11. Change the "Drop Shadow" properties to the following:



12. Change the "Bevel and Emboss" properties to the following:



13. Change the "Gradient Overlay" properties to the following:



14. You should now have a tiny rivet in the corner of your name plate.



15. Copy and paste the rivet into the other 4 corners of the name plate.



16. Select the Type Tool and type out whatever you want to say. Use whatever font you like best.



17. Open the Layer Styles for the Text layer.
18. Change the "Inner Shadow" properties to the following:



19. You should now have your completed Name Plate!
